Happy birthday to my lovely, strong, amazing, curious, beautiful daughter, Colette Gaelle! She was definitely a surprise 2+ years ago…I had a difficult time after I discovered I was pregnant. I absolutely cannot imagine my life without her and I am so thankful that we are graced by her unique personality & determined spirit. It is really special to see her strong connection to her siblings, especially the bond she has with Frankie. I always wanted a sister and I am touched to see their love for one another.
My goodness, it’s been too long! A week after my last post, we had our baby. She arrived 3 weeks early and was 6#5oz. Her name is Colette Gaëlle and she is absolutely lovely. Here she is moments after birth. The surprise labor, fast c-section and subsequent recovery were challenging. I feel so grateful for such a wonderful circle of friends & family. And for Micah, who truly handled a difficult situation with grace. After 2 months, we are finally getting into a groove of sorts. The memory of hardship fades as we embrace our new family dynamic. It’s crazy, it’s loud, it never sleeps, but it’s beautiful.
ethan & aidan wanted to make valentines for their classmates. i have been seeing lots of cool paint chip ideas (mobiles, tags, etc…) on pinterest and thought they would be perfect for valentines. we used a martha stewart heart craft punch that i picked up at a really great local craft shop, collage.aidan decided to use the punched out hearts in different colors, so we cut cards out of white & brown paper and he decorated them…i really love the ones that have the graduating colors.ethan decided that he loved the negative space and cut the individual color strips and then punched a heart in it. i think this looks pretty awesome & i love that it still looks like a paint chip. he selected specific colors & color names for his friends. he had to be a little careful since some of the names were a bit provocative…’loves first kiss’, ‘enchanted coach ride’ and my personal favorite ‘hunny pot purple’.
my husband (micah kassell) gave me a lovely gift for christmas. he is a wonderful father, talented artist, fantastic musician and amazing husband…lucky me!
he made an art piece in celebration of our family and i plan on using it as a daily reminder in 2012. he was originally going to put our names on it, but thought that would be unfair to our new baby arriving in march. instead, it’s stamped with kablamo, an amalgamation of kassell, blatter & mori. happy new year!
