After three days of sewing for Frankie, I had to switch it up! Aidan requested a hoodie for Day 4, but it ended up taking me two days to get it all done. I downloaded the Urban Hoodie from Heidi & Finn, printed it out, pieced it together and started cutting! Aidan picked out a rad vintage super vibrant knit (picked up at an estate sale) and a coordinating green, super soft knit for the lining (picked up at St Vincent’s for $1.99 years ago). It turned out great and I really like the mismatched vintage buttons too! Aidan loves it.
my kids attend the amazing japanese immersion program in portland and every year i enjoy helping with their auction. we found a great inspiration piece on pinterest and helped all four 3rd grade classes fold their own personal origami crane. the cranes were artfully glued to a beautiful, majestic willow branch (4′ x 8′).
finished the costumes for the boys last night. aidan is dr.horrible again…sporting the red costume this time. I used an adult button down shirt to sew his lab coat and we ordered goggles off of ebay.
ethan & aidan wanted to make valentines for their classmates. i have been seeing lots of cool paint chip ideas (mobiles, tags, etc…) on pinterest and thought they would be perfect for valentines. we used a martha stewart heart craft punch that i picked up at a really great local craft shop, collage.aidan decided to use the punched out hearts in different colors, so we cut cards out of white & brown paper and he decorated them…i really love the ones that have the graduating colors.ethan decided that he loved the negative space and cut the individual color strips and then punched a heart in it. i think this looks pretty awesome & i love that it still looks like a paint chip. he selected specific colors & color names for his friends. he had to be a little careful since some of the names were a bit provocative…’loves first kiss’, ‘enchanted coach ride’ and my personal favorite ‘hunny pot purple’.
